Melvin Tanaya is the Brand Director and co-founder of Sydney based design house, Song for the Mute. Together with Designer Lyna Ty, the pair have presented collections in Paris since 2010, and grown their brand presence to over 50 stockists internationally. With an impressive working knowledge of the collision spaces between business, art, and commerce, Tanaya has launched the local Australian label onto an international stage by establishing and maintaining strong relationships with major global retailers including Selfridges (UK), Lane Crawford (HK & CN), Harrolds (AU), SSENSE (CA), and Leclaireur (FR). With a strong emphasis on collaboration, Song for the Mute has produced special projects and events with internationally recognised streetwear labels, department stores and hospitality groups, which serve to continually evolve the brands unique direction.
